Counsel in the case of homicide defendant Keith Taylor will return to Baltimore City Circuit Court next month to schedule the defendant’s retrial following his recent mistrial in connection to a fatal shooting in April 2020.

The 43-year-old defendant’s jury trial ended in a mistrial last week before Judge Robert Taylor Jr., which began on April 13. Taylor and his defense attorney, Linda Zeit, appeared in Judge Melissa Phinn’s reception court on April 25 when counsel agreed to return on May 9 for scheduling.

Taylor is charged with first-degree murder and three weapons charges.

Before the end of Tuesday’s proceeding, the prosecution presented a plea offer of 40 years, suspending all but 20 years, and five years of supervised probation for second-degree murder and a concurrent 20 years, the first five years without parole, for firearm use in a felony violent crime.

Taylor rejected the offer, which would have also required that he register as a gun offender.

According to the prosecutor’s opening statements in the defendant’s first trial, 23-year-old Jazzeind Kasif Fulton was shot when he and another man allegedly attempted to rob an automobile shop on the 2300 block of Evergreen Street on April 18, 2020. The victim’s body was found in the backseat of his vehicle the next day.
