A Baltimore man convicted of manslaughter was given a positive review in mental health court before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale. E. Raisin on Oct. 5.
Defendant Genesis Collins was released in 2019 after being convicted of manslaughter in 2013. The defendant is currently serving a five-year probation term.
During the hearing, Collins, 52, stated that everything was going well and that he is currently working demolition jobs.
The assistant state attorney assigned to the case stated the defendant was doing “phenomenal.”
The defendant’s probation officer stated she had “no complaints,” and the defendant’s drug test has consistently returned negative. She also requested that the defendant be allowed to apply for housing alone.
This request was granted.
Judge Rasin was ecstatic about the good news and praised the defendant for his “tremendous progress.”
Collin’s next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 7
