Amir Barnes-Henderson, 27, was found guilty of all charges in the Nov. 21, 2024 fatal shooting of Gary Lee Matthews, 34, on Aug. 1 A panel of jurors reached their verdict before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Althea M. Handy following the conclusion of a four-day trial on July 31.
Barnes-Henderson was convicted on all four of his initial charges, including first-degree murder and three firearm violations. He is slated for sentencing Sept. 25.
Charging documents note Barnes-Henderson shot Matthews 22 times in the head outside One Stop Liquor Store on the 4900 block of Frankford Avenue. A medical examination revealed the shots were fired at close range, with several striking Matthews’ face. Bullet fragments were recovered from his body during his autopsy.
Judge Handy will oversee Barnes-Henderson’s sentencing.
