Amir Barnes-Henderson, 27, was found guilty of all charges in the Nov. 21, 2024 fatal shooting of Gary Lee Matthews, 34, on Aug. 1 A panel of jurors reached their verdict before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Althea M. Handy following the conclusion of a four-day trial on July 31. 

Barnes-Henderson was convicted on all four of his initial charges, including first-degree murder and three firearm violations. He is slated for sentencing Sept. 25. 

Charging documents note Barnes-Henderson shot Matthews 22 times in the head outside One Stop Liquor Store on the 4900 block of Frankford Avenue. Medical examination revealed the shots were fired at close range, with several striking Matthews’ face. Bullet fragments were recovered from his body during his autopsy.

Judge Handy will oversee Barnes-Henderson’s sentencing.
