Convicted Attempted Murder Defendant Motions Hearing Postponed

A Baltimore man convicted of attempted murder in April had his motions hearing postponed on Oct. 24 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Anthony Vittoria.

On April 8, Jermaine Davis was convicted of attempted second-degree murder, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction and having a handgun within a 100 yards of a public area in connection to an incident on Aug. 2, 2021. A verdict was not rendered in the charges of first and second-degree assault.

According to a news release, on the day the incident occurred, officers were called to the 2500 block of Edmondson Avenue for reports of a shooting, where a 29-year-old man was found suffering from multiple gunshots.

Defense attorney Natalie Finegar informed the court that Davis, 40, motioned for a new trial and sentencing, claiming the defendant wanted to be present in the court for the motion.

However, on the day of the defendant’s hearing, the court could not locate the defendant; therefore, his defense requested a postponement.

Judge Vittoria granted the defense postponement request and scheduled Davis’ hearing for Jan. 23, 2023.
