Co-Defendants Accused of Homicide Reject Plea Offer

Two co-defendants accused of homicide rejected a plea of two counts of life on Feb. 1 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn. 

Charles Baldwin, 22, and Mizell Taylor, 31, are charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to armed robbery, three counts of use of a firearm in a violent crime, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and having a handgun on person in connection to an incident on Nov. 21, 2020. 

During reception court on Tuesday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor offered Baldwin and Taylor the same plea for two counts of life for first-degree murder. The charges are set to run concurrently. 

Baldwin and Taylor defense attorney’s Brandon Mead, and Todd Oppenheim, respectively, rejected the plea offers. 

According to the Baltimore Sun, Baldwin, along with co-defendant Mizell Taylor, are accused of the murders of 21-year-old Diamond Davis, 20-year-old Pedro Chesley, and the shooting of another individual, who were all shot on the 700 block of Grantley Street on March 11, 2020. 

The co-defendants’ next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 23.
