A 49-year-old Reisterstown man was sentenced to ten years in prison on May 10 for his role in the murder of 38-year-old William Smith in 2021.
Michael Corprew was charged with Smith’s murder alongside his co-defendant, 53-year-old Shawn Brewton, who was convicted of similar charges in April. Corprew previously opted to plead guilty to conspiring to commit first-degree murder and was sentenced to 50 years, suspending all but 10 years, for the incident on Aug. 11, 2021.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Dana M. Middleton presided over Friday’s proceedings. Corprew was represented by defense attorney Augustine Okeke.
According to charging documents, there was a physical altercation between Smith and his ex-girlfriend the night before the murder. In response to the dispute, Corprew and Brewton went to the victim’s home on the 3500 block of Belvedere Avenue and shot Smith, who was later found by Baltimore Police.
