After two days of arguments, parties in the attempted murder trial of Jerome Davis, 35, are expected to wind up their cases before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer,

Davis is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and related firearm offenses for his alleged involvement in a shooting that occurred on The shooting occurred on Oct/ober 30, 2024, on the 2800 block of Woodbrook Avenue.

On July 24, the prosecution called four witnesses to testify: a forensic scientist with 21 years of experience in Baltimore City’s firearms lab; a second forensic scientist from the city’s forensic processing unit; a responding Baltimore Police detective who was on the scene; and a crime lab technician who assisted in evidence collection and analysis.

The trial follows a rejected plea offer made to Davis in March, which proposed a life sentence, suspending all but 30 years, plus five years of probation for attempted first-degree murder.

The offer also included a concurrent 20-year sentence, with the first five years without the possibility of parole, for firearm use in a violent crime. Davis, through his defense attorney Brandon Thornton, declined the deal and opted to proceed to trial.

Judge Schiffer stated that the trial is expected to conclude July 25.
