Non-Fatal Shooting

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Althea M. Handy dismissed all charges against Callen Brown, 19, on March 27. The dismissal came after defense attorney Robert D. Cole, Jr. moved to dismiss Brown’s charging documents due to incorrect incident dates.
Brown was initially charged with possession of a firearm as a minor, wearing and transporting a handgun, discharging a firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition in connection to an apparent non-fatal self-shooting incident that occurred on May 23, 2024 at his residence in the 3600 block of Elmora Avenue. He was 17 years old at the time of the incident, a minor.
Counsel previously agreed to a nolle prosequi for the first charge during a Feb. 25 hearing, dropping it.
Charging documents mistakenly date the incident to April 24, 2024. At approximately 6:32 p.m., a Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officer was dispatched to the residence, where Brown said he was shot while walking to a store.
Following canvassing, BPD located a crime scene inside the residence and found blood in the living and dining rooms, kitchen, and basement, as well as a couch in the living room with an apparent bullet hole. No firearms or casings were recovered.
A detective reviewed a 911 call from Brown’s friend, who stated that they required an ambulance for a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the residence.
