The Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office dismissed the homicide case of a Parkville woman on Aug. 25 after it could not find a witness for its case.

Defendant Brandi Richardson, 28, was expected to begin a jury trial this week for charges of first-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime after she was accused of fatally shooting 33-year-old Georgio Johnson on April 7, 2021, on the 1500 block of N. Broadway Street.

After declining the prosecution’s plea of 40 years on Wednesday, Richardson and her defense attorney, Isaac Klein, prepared for a jury selection the following day. However, the defendant’s case was dismissed on Thursday when the prosecutor informed Judge Charles Blomquist that she could not find a witness necessary for their case.

“It’s a shame she was charged with what I feel was a lack of evidence,” Klein told Baltimore Witness on Friday. “My client sat in jail for over a year on this.”

Following the case’s dismissal, Richardson is expected to be taken back to jail, where she will be processed and released.
