A Baltimore City jury acquitted Marcus Lilly, 43, of attempted murder on May 28. However, he was found guilty on other counts in front of Judge Lawrence P. Fletcher-Hill.
Lilly was charged with three counts each of attempted first- and second- degree murder and first-degree assault, as well as multiple gun charge violations from a shooting on Oct. 16, 2024 in the 3500 block of W. Caton Avenue.
After deliberating, the jury found Lilly not guilty of all three counts of attempted first- and second- degree murder, ultimately acquitting him of those charges. In addition, Lilly was found guilty of all three charges of first-degree assault and all gun charge violations
Responding officers located the 53-year-old victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the buttocks and foot. The victim was reportedly caught in the crossfire in an unrelated gunfight between the defendant and co-defendant Shyheem Thompson, 24. He was earlier acquitted of similar charges.
Lilly was represented by Michael Tomko during the trial.
Sentencing will be scheduled on Sept. 22.
