On March 15, a 28-year-old attempted homicide defendant was denied bail on March 15 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Philip S. Jackson.
Lorenzo Kevin Terry is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of use of a firearm during a violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, carrying a handgun on his person, and discharging a firearm in connection to a non-fatal shooting that occurred on Nov. 17, 2018.
During Tuesday’s bail review, Judge Jackson listened as the defendant’s defense attorney George Harris informed the court that a petition was filed due to the length of time the defendant has been in jail. Harris requested home detention on his clients’ behalf.
The prosecutor informed the court that the original trial was scheduled for Oct. 8, 2018, but it was declared a mistrial a few days later. There was an effort to retry the case in January of 2020, but the defense filed a motion to dismiss.
The delayed process of this case is due to the appellate process to dismiss the case and the defendant’s right to appeal, added prosecutors.
Terry’s next hearing is scheduled for April 12.
