On March 3, defense counsel representing a convicted murder requested a hearing postponement as he awaits placement into an outpatient drug facility before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie J. Hong.
Sharon Bogins said she believes 57-year-old defendant Charles Hicks could relapse if he continues to remain in prison. The facility he will be placed in will make sure he is doing everything he’s supposed to in order to get better, said Bogins.
Judge Hong granted the counsel’s postponement request giving the defendant time to enroll in a drug treatment facility.
On Dec. 16 1996, Hicks was convicted of first-degree murder sentencing him to life and five years supervised probation upon release in connection to the fatal stabbing of 26-year-old Nancy Klotz on the unit block of West Clement Street on Aug. 16, 1996.
Hicks’ next hearing is scheduled for June 5.
