The trial for a Baltimore man accused of shooting two bullets into an acquaintance’s apartment window last New Year’s Eve got underway on Aug. 20.

Tyree Green, 24, stood before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Piper F. McKeithen to be tried on charges of attempted first-degree murder, malicious destruction of property and two firearm violations in connection to the shooting, which occurred shortly after midnight in North Baltimore.

Police responded to the apartment complex on the 2300 block of Anoka Avenue following a call from the victim, who later informed detectives she allegedly knew Green by the name Tyrone and became reacquainted with him through Instagram, where the pair recently began exchanging messages.

She advised the shooting occurred after she invited Green into her home and kicked him out following unwanted sexual advances. Green allegedly grew angry in response, yelling and kicking items in her yard before opening fire at the apartment window. A witness living in the complex corroborated the events.

Investigators located Green’s Instagram account and extracted photographs through which the victim was later said to provide a positive identification.

Officers later advised the victim how to file a peace order prohibiting the suspect from contacting her since she expressed fear for her life, citing Green’s newfound knowledge of her home address.

Defense attorney John Deros represented Green at the hearing.
