A 34-year-old man accepted a plea offer for involuntary manslaughter on Aug. 24 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.

Rashad Peartree, a Baltimore resident, was charged for allegedly beating 60-year-old Louis Henson on the 500 block of Guilford Avenue around 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 18, 2020.

According to CBS Baltimore, police found Henson after he was severely beaten. Henson was taken to Johns Hopkins University Hospital but died from his injuries 11 days later.

With defense attorney Jonathan Kerr present, the prosecution offered Peartree a plea of 10 years, suspending all but five, with five years of probation for involuntary manslaughter.

The plea offered on Tuesday was slightly less time served than the prosecution’s first plea offered earlier this month: 10 years, suspending all but seven, with five years of probation.

At the time, Kerr rejected the first offer on his client’s behalf and made a counteroffer.
