Baltimore City Prosecutor Leaves Plea Deal On The Table

A Baltimore City prosecutor agreed to leave a plea offer on the table for homicide defendant Andre Stevens on Jan. 18, while the defendant and his attorney review additional evidence obtained through discovery.

During the proceeding, the prosecution offered Stevens and his defense attorney, Natalie Finegar, a plea deal of 40 years, suspending all but 25 years, for second-degree murder, a suspended 10 years for second-degree assault to run concurrently, along with a suspended three years for use of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure, also running concurrently.

Stevens would also serve five years of supervised probation for a total sentence of 40 years, suspending all but 25 years.

Finegar asked for the prosecutor to leave the offer open so she and her client could thoroughly look over the evidence before making a decision.

If Stevens rejects the offer, Baltimore City Circuit Judge Melissa K. Copeland tentatively scheduled a four-day trial starting on June 5. A trial judge has yet to be assigned.
