Attempted Murder Trial Postponed Again

Jytarous Evans’ attempted murder trial was postponed on April 28, due to questions about DNA evidence.

Evans, 34, is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, multiple firearm offenses, and illegal possession of ammunition in connection to a shooting that occurred Aug. 17, 2023, in the 1700 block of W. Pratt Street.

According to charging documents, video footage recovered from the incident area captured a suspect exiting a van and shooting a nearby individual. The victim later walked into the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.

A detective later positively identified Evans as the alleged shooter using retrieved CCTV footage.

Defense attorney Jason E. Silverstein requested further time to review DNA evidence recovered from the van. Evans is set for trial June 3 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry G. Williams. The trial was previously postponed to April 28 to Jan. 29 for lack of an available defense attorney.
