Following a dispute on July 18, a victim was shot at but not struck on the 1300 block of Division Street.

Central District detectives were able to identify the suspect and obtain an arrest warrant in a short amount of time.

On July 26, at approximately 9:45 a.m. members of the Warrant Task Force arrested 41-year-old Nathaniel Hope on Division Street, in his vehicle, in that very block.

Hope was transported to Central Booking, where he has been charged with first-degree attempted murder and various handgun violations.

Detectives at the scene of the arrest obtained a search and seizure warrant for Hope’s vehicle. As a result of the search, a loaded 9mm handgun and 56 jugs of suspected crack cocaine was seized. That contraband was submitted at BPD’s Evidence Management Unit.

In addition to Hope’s attempted murder charges, and as a result of the seized handgun and narcotics, he has also been charged with various narcotic violations and additional handgun violations.

Nathaniel Hope remains at Central Booking and is waiting to see a court commissioner.
