On April 15, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland presided over an attempted murder case.
Ludis Guevara-Sosa, 18, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime, three counts of reckless endangerment, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun in a vehicle and discharging a firearm in relation to an incident that occurred on Oct. 14, 2023.
The assistant state’s attorney offered a 50 year sentence, suspending all but 25 years, for attempted first-degree murder, running concurrently to five years without the possibility of parole, followed by five years of supervised probation firearm use in a felony violent crime.
Guevara-Sosa would also be required to register as a gun offender upon release. However, defense attorney Jerry Rodriguez rejected this offer on behalf of his client.
Judge Copeland scheduled Guevara-Sosa’s trial for July 16 before Judge Barry G. Williams. A second related case is scheduled for the same date.
The defense has also filed a motion to suppress evidence in reference to his client’s other case. The prosecution has also moved to join the two cases. The motions hearing date is scheduled for June 21 before Judge Sylvester B. Cox.
