Attempted Murder Defendants Set for Trial

Two co-defendants accused of attempted murder earlier this year will go to trial in April 2022 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.

Baltimore residents Blair Jones and Darl Parker appeared in reception court on Dec. 10 before their respective defense attorneys, Maureen Rowland and Catherine Flynn. Both defendants are facing attempted first and second-degree murder as well as assault, reckless endangerment, and multiple firearms charges.

During Friday’s proceedings, the prosecution offered Jones, 21, a plea of 12 years, the first five years without parole, for conspiracy to commit first-degree assault and firearm use during a felony violent crime. Jones rejected the offer.

Parker, 22, was offered a lengthier plea of 30 years, suspending all but 12, the first five years without parole, for first-degree assault and firearm use during a felony violent crime. Flynn said she had not yet shared the offer with her client.

Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled a trial date for April 22, 2022.

In October, Parker was denied bail after the prosecution said the defendant allegedly shot the victim in the ankle and ran away after an argument that was captured on surveillance video.
