The trial of 47-year-old Rodney Jermaine Addison was postponed on July 17 to give the defense more time to prepare for the case.
Addison is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder and assault, home invasion, third-degree burglary, and several firearm violations in connection to an incident that occurred on Dec. 11, 2024, in the 200 block of S. Stricker Street.
According to charging documents, officers reported to the address at 3:43 a.m. to discover a resident suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. Investigation revealed that the side entrance of the domicile was forcefully opened, and responders located a shell casing on the second floor.
Addison was later identified as a suspect by detectives. In the follow-up investigation, two witnesses identified him as the perpetrator of the shooting.
Although the deadline for the prosecution to bring the case to trial is Aug. 9, Addison chose to waive his right to give his attorney, Maureen O’Leary, time to get ready. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland reset the trial to Oct. 15.
