Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled a two-day jury trial for a 59-year-old Baltimore man resident charged with attempted murder after he rejected a plea offer on March 27.
Robert McCormick, 59, is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and first-degree assault in connection to a shooting incident that occurred on or about Oct. 6, 2024 on the 5200 block of Reisterstown Road.
The prosecution offered McCormick a plea deal of life, suspending all but 20 years, as well as five years of probation and a no-contact order with the victim.
According to charging documents, the victim approached McCormick, who was allegedly soliciting drugs in front of the victim’s business. Shortly after a physical altercation, the victim retired to his 2021 Tesla and McCormick drove his black 2022 Can-Am Maverick to where the victim sat in his car.
McCormick retrieved his handgun and fired four shots into the victim’s vehicle. In response, the victim fired back at McCormick, documents state.
The events of the incident were captured on nearby surveillance cameras, and the victim was able to positively identify McCormick following a photographic array.
McCormick’s jury trial is slated to begin on June 16 before Judge John A. Howard.
