Attempted Murder Defendant Rejects Plea Deal

On April 4, attempted murder defendant Fernnell Harrison was given a June trial date by Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland.

Harrison, 41, is currently charged with attempted first- and- second degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in a felony violent crime, wearing, carrying and transporting a weapon, along with firing and discharging a gun in connection to a Sept. 2, 2023, incident.

The prosecution offered Harrison for attempted first-degree murder, life in prison suspending all but 25 years, followed by five years of supervised probation. For firearm use in a felony violent crime, the plea offer was five years without the possibility of parole to run concurrently with the sentence for attempted first-degree murder. He would also be required to register as a gun offender.

Harrison and his defense attorney Janet Andersen, who was standing in for Robert Cohen, rejected this offer.

Copeland scheduled a two-day trial starting on June 26.
