Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled a three-day jury trial for attempted murder defendant Reginald Raysor, 32, on March 25. The trial is slated to begin May 30 before Judge Piper F. McKeithen.
Raysor is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, and firearm-related charges in connection to an Aug. 28, 2024, shooting and robbery that occurred on the 2400 block of Guilford Avenue.
According to charging documents, responding officers recovered a shell casing on the sidewalk. An unknown woman also advised officers that the suspect was a Black male with dreadlocks and burns on his left hand. She informed police that the suspect was driving a silver SUV with New York tags.
As officers investigated the scene, an unknown woman in a black Nissan with a Maryland tag stopped in the middle of the street to speak with the woman. The woman who was in the Nissan captured the incident with her dash camera. She was also the suspect’s intended victim.
As the victim searched for thefootage, one of the responding officers turned off his body-worn camera. He was not seen returning to the victim for further questions.
On Oct. 13, 2024, a detective reviewed body-worn camera footage and found that officers failed to question the victim. He and another detective responded to the victim’s residence to conduct an interview recorded via body-worn cameras. They showed her a photo array, and she positively identified Raysor as the fifth person in the lineup.
The victim advised that the incident unfolded following a “date” when the suspect paid $60 for her to perform sexual acts. After she finished working on Raysor, she said, she returned to her vehicle and a brief struggle ensued as he attempted to shove her into the back door.
She said the struggle escalated when Raysor allegedly produced a gun and attempted and failed to hit her with it. He then pulled the victim’s purse off her body and stole two more that were on her backseat. The stolen property included a black Juicy Couture purse with $18 worth of items, a clear purple purse with $30 worth of items, a black fanny pack, and $100 in money. She said he stole a total of $148 from her.
Raysor is also linked to a Sept. 14, 2024, homicide and a Sept. 15, 2024, armed robbery. Both incidents remain under investigation.
