A 36-year-old Baltimore man charged with attempted murder pleaded guilty, accepting a plea of 20 years in prison on April 26 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lynn Stewart Mays.
Eric Terry is charged with four counts of attempted second-degree murder, four counts of first-degree assault and five counts of second-degree assault, four counts of reckless endangerment, felony use of a firearm during a violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possession of firearms, illegal possession of ammunition, and discharging firearms in connection to an incident on Jan. 3, 2021.
During court proceedings, Judge Mays listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of 20 years for attempted second-degree murder; 20 years suspending all but time served with five years supervised probation for attempted second-degree murder; 20 years for attempted second-degree murder; 10 years for first-degree assault; five years for second-degree assault; 20 years with the first five years without parole for use of a firearm during a violent crime. Giving the defendant a total of 40 years suspending all but 20 years with the first five without parole and five years supervised probation.
Terry was represented by defense attorney Sharon May.
The defendant’s counsel argued that her client suffers from mental health issues and was on drugs, including cocaine and cannabis, during the time of the crime.
Terry will also be enrolled in a mental health program while in prison. He was deemed criminally responsible and competent by doctors.
According to CBS Baltimore, two women, 18 and 21, were found with gunshot wounds on Jan. 3 on the 4200 block of Bonner Road. Both victims had non-life threatening injuries and were treated at a nearby hospital.
