A 33-year-old Baltimore man charged with attempted murder has trial scheduled to start on April 18 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer.
Hughie Martin, is charged with second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm during a violent crime, having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, and discharging firearms in connection to an incident on Sept. 25, 2020.
During reception court on Monday, Judge Schiffer listened as the prosecutor informed the court that they are ready for court today, but defense attorney Roland Brown was unavailable due to another trial. However, he recently became available for trial today.
In addition, the prosecutor noted that the defendant was previously offered a plea of 15 years, suspending all but four to nine years, which is stipulated within the sentence guidelines.
Under the plea, the defendant would also have to stay away from the victim and the victim’s restaurant. However, the defendant and his defense attorney rejected the offer on Nov. 8, 2021.
Martin’s trial is expected to last for four days with Judge Yolanda A. Tanner presiding.
