On April 3, a jury found Dionte Johnson guilty before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Anthony F. Vittoria.
Johnson, 26, represented by defense attorney Natalie Finegar, was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, reckless endangerment, firearm possession with a drug conviction, having a handgun on his person and discharging a firearm in Baltimore City.
The jury did not render a verdict for the charges of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault. The charge of illegal possession of ammunition was not sent to the jury.
According to previous reports, Johnson was seen on CCTV footage on March 27, 2022, arguing with the victim inside of a liquor store on the 2300 block of East Biddle Street. Johnson fired shot the victim, which left him paralyzed from the neck down. The camera footage also captured Johnson fleeing the scene, where he dropped his identification card that was later recovered by Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers.
Johnson’s sentencing is set for July 18.
