A Baltimore man accused of shooting and robbing a man at the No. 1 Chinese Carry Out restaurant in Penn North is set to stand trial for five days, beginning June 23.

LaForrest Morgan, 47, faces 13 charges, including attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, felony use of a firearm in a violent crime, and several other firearm-related charges in connection to the June 28, 2024 incident. He was arrested July 16 the same year.

The March 28 hearing resulted from Morgan’s discontent with his defense attorney, Angela Shelton, at a hearing one week prior. Friday, Morgan told Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland that he could allow Shelton to continue representing him, and agreed to the late June trial date.

Morgan’s trial is slated to be held before Judge Paul E. Alpert.
