An attempted murder case initially set to begin trial on Dec. 12 ended in a plea before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn.
Defendant Eric Harcum, who is represented by Derrick Hamlin, accepted a plea offered by the prosecution of 20 years, suspending all but ten years with five years supervised probation for attempted first-degree murder.
Harcum, 54, was initially charged with attempted, first-degree murder, second-degree murder, two counts each of first and second-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of using a deadly weapon with the intent to injure, and two counts of malicious destruction of property valued less than $1000 in connection to a crime perpetrated on March 5, 2021.
During the hearing, it was revealed that the defendant was familiar with the victims. Harcum apologized to the two victims saying that “we were friends, and it just got out of control.”
