Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland granted shooting defendant Danny Gonzalez, 20, a postponement after he changed defense counsel on Aug. 4.

Defense attorney Natalie A. Finegar will be representing Gonzalez moving forward. The trial is now set for Oct. 6 before Judge Hope Tipton, and is expected to last three days.

Gonzalez is charged with two counts each of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and firearm use in a felony violent crime.

On Nov. 18, 2024, Southern District Baltimore Police Department (BPD) patrol officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of Orchard Avenue for a possible shooting. According to charging documents, two victims were located with multiple gunshot wounds and transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where they recovered.

Upon further investigation, unidentified witnesses advised they saw a Hispanic male, later identified as Gonzalez, arguing with one of the victims before producing a gun and shooting both of them.

Gonzalez allegedly fled after being informed children were in the vicinity. Witnesses also identified a grey Acura with a missing rear sticker on the tag that Gonzalez occupiewd at the time of the shooting.

One witness positively identified Gonzalez as the perpetrator and wrote, “He’s the shooter,” on a double blind photographic array.
