A 17-year-old attempted murder defendant, who was recently denied a request to be tried in juvenile court, received a Baltimore City Circuit Court trial date Oct. 10.
The defendant is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a loaded handgun, firing and discharging a gun and illegal possession of ammunition in connection to an Oct. 29, 2023 shooting in the 1500 block of Penrose Avenue.
He was denied a transfer into juvenile court on Aug. 30, meaning his case will proceed in the adult division of the circuit court.
Defense attorney Andre Mahasa told the court Oct. 10 he was still reviewing the evidence against his client, but said he may file a motion to suppress the identification that led to his client’s arrest.
Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled the defendant’s three-day trial to begin on Jan. 23, 2025.
