The trial of a 24-year-old Baltimore man facing murder charges was scheduled on Aug. 30 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Jalonte Davis is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to an incident on March 1, 2020.
On Monday, defense attorney Michael Dunty said that Davis rejected the prosecution’s plea offer of life, suspending all but 50 years for first-degree murder and five years probation. Davis also rejected a modified plea of life, suspending all but 45 years for the same charge.
Davis then waived his October Hick’s date, which is his right to be tried within 180 days of his first court appearance.
Judge Melissa M. Phinn set a trial date for Jan. 24, 2022.
