An alleged murderer accepted a plea offer on Sept. 28 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Videtta Brown.
Traevon George, 35, is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a violent crime, and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to an incident on Jan. 28, 2020.
Judge Brown listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of life, suspending all but 40 years, with five year supervised probation for first-degree murder, and a concurrent five years for use of a firearm in a violent crime.
The defendant and his defense attorney, Linda Zeit, accepted the plea.
According to the Baltimore Sun, on Jan. 28, 2020, at approximately 2:20 a.m., 31-year-old Andre Giles was shot on the 400 block of East Baltimore Street, also known as “The Block.”
When officers arrived, they found Giles with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was taken to a hospital for treatment but died a few days later.
Police said officers were able to identify George using the City Watch camera operator near the 600 block of Water Street. He was then arrested and taken to Central Booking.
Baltimore Witness previously reported that George rejected a plea of life, suspending all but 60 years and five years probation for first-degree murder in addition to five years without parole for firearm use in a violent crime, which he would serve concurrently, in June.
