Homicide defendant Al Gaymon III had a trial date set for May 2022 after rejecting a plea offer on Nov. 4.
According to CBS Baltimore, officers found 32-year-old Lewis Wright suffering from gunshot wounds on the 1400 block of West Saratoga Street around 2 a.m. on March 13. Wright was taken to a nearby hospital and died from his injuries two days later.
Police later identified Gaymon as the alleged shooter and charged him with first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, and firearm posssession with a felony conviction.
On Thursday before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn, the prosecution offered Gaymon life for first-degree murder, but the defendant promptly rejected. He was represented by defense attorney Matthew Connell.
Gaymon’s trial date was set for May 16, 2022, with Judge Emanuel Brown presiding.
