Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled a 21-year-old’s attempted murder trial on March 15.
Bernard Hopkins is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possession of a firearm as a minor, illegal possession of ammunition, reckless endangerment, discharging firearms and violating a protection order in connection to an Oct. 1, 2022, incident.
The prosecutor did not have a plea offer to put on the record during Friday’s hearing, but she said she would relay the offer in two weeks after meeting with the shooting victim in this case. She explained he was a police officer and wanted to make sure he approved any potential offer.
In the absence of an offer, Judge Copeland scheduled Hopkins’ three-day trial to begin on July 16 before Judge Lawrence P. Fletcher-Hill. Hopkins will be represented by Gabrielle Fortunato and Amanda Savage.
