On Dec. 18, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn postponed a five-day trial slated to begin today due to an ill defense attorney.
Obadiah Malone is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, reckless endangerment, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possession of a firearm in a controlled dangerous substance offense, having a loaded handgun on his person and in his vehicle and discharging firearms in connection to an Oct. 10, 2022, incident.
Defense attorney Brad MacFee called into the hearing on Zoom to tell the court he was ill and unable to try the case today.
Judge Phinn continued the 32-year-old’s scheduling hearing to Jan. 3, 2024, for scheduling.
According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, Baltimore Police Department officers responded to the 1900 block of Braddish Avenue, where they found five shell casings and blood. The victim took himself to a local hospital, where he received treatment for four gunshot wounds. A witness identified Malone as the shooter from surveillance footage shown to them by police
