After five postponements, on July 16 jury selection is underway in the attempted murder trial of Troy Ayers, 43.
According to court documents, on Sep. 30, 2025, Baltimore Police Officers (BPD) officers responded to the 3700 block of Harlem Ave. after a shooting indicating a black pick-up truck left the area with a shattered rear window–officers found shell casings near the scene. Police were notified of a walk-in victim with a gunshot wound to the head several minutes later. The victim reported being in the truck when an unknown male started shooting at the vehicle.
Detectives’ allegedly determined Ayers to be the suspect after speaking to the victim who was presented with a photo array of possible suspects.
Ayers is being charged with multiple counts of attempted murder and firearm violations and his case is being heard before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Alan C. Lazerow.
After being delayed for the fifth time since April because of prosecutor reassignments, Judge Lazerow confirmed the trial will officially begin on July 17.
