A jury found  Dominic Felder , 34, not guilty of all charges on July 8, acquitting him of fatally shooting 20-year-old Tavin Cooper last year.

Felder was initially charged with murder in the first degree, firearm use and other related gun charges in connection to a shooting incident that occurred Oct. 2, 2024.

According to charging documents, Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers responded to the 2500 block of McHenry Street following multiple ShotSpotter alerts. Upon arrival, they observed Cooper with two gunshot wounds to his head. Cooper was rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and pronounced deceased the following morning, at 3:01 a.m.

The prosecution’s key witness, Felder’s cousin, gave testimony riddled with discrepancies. Aerial footage presented by the defense showed an unidentified person of interest in the area at the time of the crime.

The individual, who wore clothing different from Felder’s, was seen leaving a nearby house with another person while appearing to hold a firearm. One of the two reportedly called out the witness’ nickname, saying he was up the street.
