A non-fatal shooting defendant’s decision to accept or reject two plea agreements in separate cases will determine whether a third case involving a non-fatal shooting would be dismissed.
The 20-year-old Baltimore resident is charged with possession of a firearm as a minor, having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle on a public road, reckless endangerment, illegal possession of ammunition, and discharging firearms.
The non-fatal shooting defendant is currently involved in two other cases; however, the details of these cases were not mentioned during Friday’s hearing in Baltimore City Circuit Court.
The prosecution said they offered plea agreements for the other two cases and said that the charges would be dismissed for the non-fatal shooting case if the defendant were to accept those offers.
Defense attorney Staci Pipkin said that there was a lack of discovery from the prosecution, which prevents the defendant from accepting the plea.
Judge Melissa M. Phinn asked counsel to return on Dec. 13 to discuss whether they agreed on an offer.
