A 20-year-old man accused of an attempted murder was denied bail on July 9 in Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Khyree White, a resident of Washington, D.C., is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime, having a handgun in vehicle, conspiracy to have a handgun in the vehicle, firing any gun or pistol, possession of a firearm as a minor, having a loaded handgun in vehicle, assault weapon or magazine use, conspiracy to use an assault weapon or magazine, possession of detached magazine of more than 10 rounds, conspiracy to possess a detached magazine of more than 10 rounds, possession of a firearm without a serial number, conspiracy to possess a firearm without a serial number, reckless endangerment, car theft, theft between $25,000 to $100,000, unauthorized removal of a motor vehicle and conspiracy to unlawfully remove a motor vehicle in connection to a March 28 incident.
During White’s bail review, before Judge Yolanda A. Tanner, his attorney, Jeremy Eldridge, argued that White is not a flight risk as he had no prior failures to appear in court.
According to Eldridge, White has a 1-year-old child, and when the incident occurred, he was trying to enlist in the army.
On March 28, White and four other individuals allegedly shot at a woman in her vehicle. Judge Tanner said Baltimore Police Department investigators found at least 14 shell casings and 16 bullet holes in the victim’s vehicle.
“Shooting at a vehicle multiple times is not only a threat to the person in the vehicle, but anyone else in the area,” said Judge Tanner.
White was denied bail based on the recklessness and seriousness of the crime.
He is scheduled to appear in reception court on Aug. 19 before Judge Melissa K. Copeland.
