A non-fatal shooting defendant who was injured by gunfire went before Baltimore City Circuit Court for closing statements in his case.

Timothy Sutton is charged with firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm and making a false statement to a police officer for an April 29, 2023, incident, where he allegedly shot himself in the leg.

In closing statements on June 26, defense attorney Brandon Taylor reiterated his argument that Sutton’s girlfriend shot him and his different stories to Baltimore Police Department (BPD) investigators were intended to protect the couple from legal action.

In their rebuttal, the prosecutor argued that Sutton did not claim that he was protecting his girlfriend during multiple statements to police. They also claimed that since his girlfriend was arrested for drugs, if Sutton really wanted to protect her, he would have taken responsibility for the drugs as well.
