Attempted Murder Defendant Rejects Plea; Judge Schedules Trial

In a June 10 hearing, an attempted murder defendant’s trial was scheduled by Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland for Aug. 20. The trial judge will be Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer

Desmond Lark, 33, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, two counts of transporting a loaded gun and one count of firing and discharging a firearm.

These charges relate to an incident on June 1, 2023, where Lark allegedly shot a 43-year-old male victim on the 5300 Block of Frankford Avenue, according to a Baltimore Police Department news release.

Lark appeared in court with his attorney Roya Hanna and was offered a plea deal of life, suspending all but 25 years, for attempted first-degree murder and a consecutive sentence of five years without the possibility of parole for firearm use in a felony violent crime.

Lark rejected this offer and will reappear in court for his trial.
