Prosecutor Waits for More Evidence in 2021 Homicide Trial

Homicide defendant Jenita Foster’s trial was set to begin on Sept. 5.

On April 22, the prosecutor  told Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland that she was waiting on more evidence and requested a seven day trial in November. This would require Foster to waive her right to trial within 180 days after her first appearance in court.

However, Judge Copeland told the prosecution she would have to be ready for trial by the end of August, no later than September

The prosecution, defense, and Judge Copeland agreed on the September date. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Charles H. Dorsey III is slated to preside over the trial. Foster is represented by Mary Lloyd Patton.

Foster, 40, was arrested on Nov. 9, 2023, for the death of Jason McNair who was found fatally stabbed on Aug. 17, 2021, on the 1400 block of Aisquith Street.
