On March 26, attempted murder defendant Davon Coleman received a June trial date from Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland.
Coleman, 25, is currently charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, illegal possession of ammunition and reckless endangerment.
No plea deal was offered to Coleman and his defense attorney, Michael Cooper. There was a delay in the prosecution providing discovery and as a result, the defense filed a motion to compel the release of evidence in the case.
Copeland scheduled a two-day trial starting June 13 before Judge Robert K. Taylor Jr.
According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, on Sept. 22, 2021, Baltimore Police Department officers received a call from a female victim, reporting a shooting on the 1700 block of Cliffview Avenue. The victim said Coleman, recently released from prison, had shot at her vehicle multiple times following an argument over money. The victim escaped unharmed and drove to her grandmother’s home in Essex.
