After securing postponement of a previous trial date, a Baltimore man facing eight criminal charges is set to appear before a jury on June 17.
On Feb. 2, 25-year-old Datuan Blanchard appeared in reception court facing Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland intending to schedule a jury trial. He faces four counts of first- degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to murder and two counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime.
Judge Copeland agreed to a five-day trial in front of a jury beginning on June 17 and prosecutors did not have a plea deal to offer Blanchard.
Blanchard was represented by defense attorney Judit Otvos.
According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, witnesses saw Blanchard escaping the scene of a double homicide on the 4000 of Wabash Avenue on Aug. 12, 2022, where victims 25-year-old Leion Davis, Jr. and 26-year-old William Ferebee were pronounced dead on the scene.
