Man Charged With Attempted Murder for Striking Delivery Man in Crossfire

On Jan. 12, at approximately 10 a.m., Western District detectives and Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force members arrested 20-year-old Darrien Gaither of Baltimore.

Detectives believe that Gaither was involved in the shooting of a 50-year-old male on Dec. 29, 2023, on the 2400 block of Liberty Heights Avenue.

Detectives transported Gaither to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with first-degree attempted murder.

On Dec. 29, 2023, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Baltimore Police Department officers responded to the 2400 block of Liberty Heights Avenue to investigate a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a 50-year-old  male victim, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left ankle. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that two groups of juvenile males were engaged in an altercation in a parking lot at the location, during which they started exchanging gunfire. The male victim who was delivering packages was struck by a stray bullet.
