Judge Sentences Defendant to Life for Stabbing His Girlfriend Nine Times

On Nov. 20, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Myshala E. Middleton sentenced 39-year-old Forell Isaac to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the first-degree murder of 29-year-old Linique Green. 

A jury found Isaac guilty of first- and second-degree murder on Sept. 18.

The prosecutor said Green and Isaac were in a relationship and, “[Isaac] was a senseless, controlling, abusive and jealous boyfriend.” 

The victim was a sex worker, and the incident began when Issac saw Green in another man’s car. He chased her down, stabbed her nine times and left calmly, leaving her body in the street. 

Referencing his previous criminal record, the assistant state’s attorney told Judge Middleton, “The defendant was given chance after chance.”

“I hate that you stole her from me,” Green’s sister stated through tears. “We don’t have the death penalty here, but that’s what you deserve.” 

According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, Baltimore Police Department officers were patrolling when they found a woman lying on the 1100 block of North Milton Avenue. Upon closer investigation, they found multiple stab wounds to the torso. Green died from the assault.

“It took me four days to tell Linique’s daughter that her mother was no longer with us,” Green’s mother said. “What mother wants to tell her granddaughter that?” 

The victim’s mother also told the judge that her family would look out the door to see if she was coming, calling her to no answer and constantly replaying videos of her. 

“Today, I’m here to speak up for her because she is not here,” her mother said. “We are getting justice for Linique today.”

Isaac’s attorney, Todd Oppenheim, asked Judge Middleton to grant a motion for a retrial because possibly exculpatory evidence wasn’t presented. The motion was denied.

Oppenheim argued for a sentence of life in prison, suspending all but 60 years, on the grounds of Isaac’s troubled upbringing and a history of mental illness including hallucinations and suicide attempts.

Oppenheim said the Isaac won’t admit to committing the crime. When given the chance to speak tears streamed down his face.
