In Baltimore City Circuit Court, Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer sentenced a non-fatal shooting defendant after he accepted a plea offered by the prosecution on Oct. 17.

Ardie Jenkins, 43, was charged with two counts of firearm possession with felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possession of firearms during a controlled dangerous substance offense, firing a gun in Baltimore City and having a handgun on his person.

Matthew Connell represented Jenkins as he pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a regulated firearm and was sentenced to five years, suspending all but one year, with three years of supervised probation and the requirement that he register as a gun offender.

Jenkins’ charges were in connection to an incident that occurred on Dec. 31, 2022. According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, ShotSpotter detected six rounds fired on the 500 block of Dolphin Street at 11:01 p.m, but there were no injuries connected to the shooting. Baltimore Police Department officers used CCTV footage to identify Jenkins as the shooter.
