On Oct. 2, at approximately 4:36 p.m., Western District patrol officers responded to a vacant home on the 500 block of N. Payson Street in reference to a wellness check.
Once there, Baltimore Police Department officers spoke with the caller, who stated her loved one had been reported missing on Oct. 1 and was possibly inside of the location.
Officers gained entry into the dwelling and located the victim, obviously deceased, with signs of trauma to the body.
The victim’s remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s office, where the victim was identified as Jamal Barney (B/M, 9/24/1986).
On Oct. 3, the victim’s death was ruled a homicide. Homicide detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.
