Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie J. Hong gave a defendant the maximum sentence on Sept. 5 in a fatal 2017 stabbing case.
Judge Hong sentenced defendant Jason Alcindor to 10 years for manslaughter.
Alcindor was convicted of stabbing Timothy “Craig” Campbell 26 times after a long-standing dispute between the two men. According to the prosecuting attorney, Campbell confronted Alcindor on numerous occasions, but on June 5, 2017, Jason stabbed Timothy at the Royal Farms on the 2700 block of Washington Boulevard.
Jason’s second-degree-murder conviction in 2017 was overturned by the Appellate Court Of Maryland in 2020. The overturn was due to a lack of jury instruction.
During the May 2023 retrial, Alcindor, 39, was found guilty by the court following the reversal of the original conviction.
“This is not who I am,” Alcindor said in court. “Words cannot express the remorse I feel.”
During the sentencing Jason was described by a former coworker as a “man of integrity.”
