Drug-Related Armed Robbery Case from Southwest Baltimore Put on Stet Docket

A Baltimore City prosecutor will not pursue the case of an alleged drug deal turned botched armed robbery against 19-year-old Kearie Crawford, instead, placing his case on the Circuit Court’s stet docket.

The non-fatal shooting case will remain on the inactive docket for three years. Either the defense or prosecution can reopen the case for any reason within the first year and may only reopen the case with good cause in the second or third year.

Crawford, who was represented by defense attorney Michael Tomko, was initially charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, firearm use in a crime of violence, possession of a firearm as a minor, discharging firearms, reckless endangerment, conspiracy to first-degree murder, conspiracy to first-degree assault, conspiracy to armed robbery and conspiracy to firearm use in a crime of violence for the incident on Feb. 4, 2022.

The case was placed on the stet docket on May 22 before Judge Jennifer Schiffer.

According to charging documents, Crawford arranged to buy drugs from the victim at the intersection of N. Arlington and W. Mulberry streets. When Crawford arrived, he got into the front passenger’s seat of the victim’s car, where the victim was in the driver’s seat and a witness was in the backseat.

Another unknown man accompanying Crawford then knocked on the victim’s driver’s side window and attempted to break the glass with a handgun as the defendant pulled out a handgun and asked the victim, “Where is it at?” The witness reportedly told the victim to give Crawford the drugs and when the victim did not comply, the defendant shot the victim in his head.

Crawford was later identified by the witness in a photo array and through the defendant’s Instagram account.
